Woodwork for Beginners Level 2 – The Cabinet

Make a softwood cabinet with a drawer and shaker style door using rebate, housing, dovetail and mortice & tenon joints

At the end of the 3 modules, you will take home your finished cabinet and the skills & confidence to start designing & making your own woodwork projects

LEARN HOW TO:

  • Select, tune and use hand tools effectively
  • Accurately mark out, cut & fit a range of traditional joints
  • Assemble, glue & cramp projects

This course is split into three modules:

Module 2A - The Case
Joints: through housing, through wedged mortice & tenon.

Module 2B - The Drawer
Joints: dovetail, corner rebate and ploughed groove.

Module 2C - The Door
Joints: haunched stopped mortice & tenon and ploughed groove.

This course is the lengthier of the level 2 courses. There are more opportunities for practice and you learn to fit a drawer and a door.  If you would prefer a shorter course, we recommend you choose the Woodwork for Beginners Level 2 - The Box course instead. Both courses cover broadly the same joinery techniques.
